Only a 90 minute drive from Denver, Cheyenne Wyoming gives you the feeling of stepping back in time. Cheyenne is the the capital of Wyoming and home to the annual Cheyenne Frontier Days. Only 126 years old as a State, you are reminded of how newly settled the West is compared to the Northeastern United States. We passed through Cheyenne for a one night stay on our way to Thermopiles, Wyoming to visit the Wyoming Dinosaur Center. I would love to return some day to experience the Frontier days! I can only imagine how it transforms this city!
Where We Stayed:
Nagle Warren Mansion B&B
This was our first time staying in a B&B as a family. I had always worried about my kids activity level in a small B&B but the owner Jim Osterfoss made us feel at home immediately! He welcomed us with a tour, a history lesson and hot chocolate chip cookies! We stayed in “Clara’s Room” named after Senator Warren’s wife. Senator Warren had purchased the home in 1910 and owned it until his death in 1929. The room was beautifully decorated.
The mansion has twelve guest rooms, each with its own bathroom. Six rooms are in the main house and six are located in the Carriage House, which is now connected to the main house. The third floor tower room and snuggery are available for guest use, as is the workout room on the garden level. Public areas of the home include the Parlour, Sitting Room, Dining Room and Library as well as three conference rooms on the garden level. The grounds include a hot tub room, patio, fountain, and gardens. One of my favorite spots in the Inn is the Tower. A circular room on the third floor with a perfect view of the city of Cheyenne. I highly recommend a stay here!

Where We Ate:
Cheyenne Brewing Company
Great place to grab lunch or dinner. Burger, Nachos and Beer are their specialty. You can grab an outdoor table and watch the trains roll by.
Nagle Warren Mansion - We had a delicious breakfast(included) with other travelers staying there. It was great fun sitting around the table and having an opportunity to meet other people and hear their stories and adventures!

What We Did:
Wyoming State Museumwyomuseum.state.wy.us - This was a very comprehensive museum filled with all things Wyoming from the past and present. I was incredibly impressed with the contents and the kids had some fun interactive areas that they could play in and learn about Wyoming. A big part to our trip out West was to see Dinosaur fossils, which is a huge passion of my son and this was his first taste of what was going to be coming over the next few weeks. The museum had a permanent dinosaur collection, which he loved!
The Wrangler- Home to some sort of retail outlet since its erection in 1892, you can not miss this building as you go down the main street of Cheyenne. Fill with everything Western this is a must stop!
Holliday Park - A great place to come swim, play, picnic and get a great view of Big Boy Steam Engine, the world's largest steam locomotive, The 4004 is one of the eight remaining Big Boys on display throughout the country.
A few things that we wished we had time to see-
Cheyenne Depot Museum -
